It wasn't just one room that we got, it was actually two (a small kitchen kind of thing and a large bedroom). The apartment had a big window front facing a backyard: it was very bright, very clean, spacious and a nice place to stay. Wooden floor / no carpet - good for allergics.
There are no really nice restaurants in the area. Even though: the metro stop is not far away, so it's easy and comfortable to get somewhere else.
The staff very friendly and enough english to feel comfortable. Very close to shops and restaurants and fast food outlets. Also close to a lovely beach( 10 mins walk). Close to metro.
good location, easy access to most sites with metro. Friendly staff.
Beds are not comfortable. the WIFI access does not seem to be working reliably. there is no hair dryer in the bathroom.
My room was really big with an amazing bed. The room's bar was not very expensive.
For the price, they shouldn't charge you 5 r$ per day for wi-fi internet. Not the best service in the breakfast.
The hotel staff is a conduct to the city were the language is not fimilar to the visitor. Their english was poor to none. This gave us trouble in getting to the airport. On the otherhand the staff did an excellent job in getting hard to get tickets to the Carnivel. As far as cost goes it was high, we were there at the time of the Carnivel and on this basis the cost was reasonable compared to other hotels. The facilities we good and well kept.
It was my first time traveling to brasil alone and the staff was very welcoming and warm answering all my questions. the location is supreme it is close to all the point via metro, bus etc when i travel back to brasil and i stay in rio i am going to stay there again.
the only draw back if any was the language barrier if you dont speak portguese. fortunately even in my broken portguese i was able to communicate with them.
Pretty spacious room and decent value for money for Rio.
Poor wifi, lack of English spoken, poor maid service.
Reception guy Marc was very helpfull, large rooms, near bus stops
Major part of the staff don't speak English, far from the beach
Quite good internet connection, great location and pleasant staff
Hotel is old and not so well maintained, high price for low offer
A well kept and pleasure to stay there.
I did not get a proper balance owing when I first made the booking and did not realize I owed the other half of the balance upon arrival,a better explanation of this procedure would be a heads up.
We had a very positive experience here. Delightful hotel and staff. Fantastic breakfast buffet served until 10.30 am.
The Restaurant! At night we order food and we need a baby chair for our daughter however, the waiter said he didn't have the key to open a room where the chair was so very disappointed about it and in addition to that, very tine room to be a restaurant and serve breakfast.
Large room (suite) with fridge. Close to subway. Helpful staff. Good variety of decent food at breakfast.
Safety concerns - Constantly warned not to walk near south end of street near football courts (at night). Since nighttime in winter starts around 4:30pm it meant no bus travel or enjoyment of an area that could be beautiful if better policed. Some dodgy businesses along the hotel's street added further to safety concerns.
Rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast service was pretty good.
The location is less than adequate being far from the good beaches. We had originally booked a 2 bedroom apt at a flat service in Leblon in August but they cancelled our confirmed reservation in October and Bookings.com stuck us here instead. It totally changed the location of hotel and room arrangements for us and was not very satisfactory (but no fault of Mengo palace).
Self-sufficient hotel outside the city, close enough to the airport, brazilian side of Iguazu Falls, and the bird park. Our kids enjoyed the pool and slides, there is also a peacock walking around the property
Kids could only use the bigger slide the first day, it was roped off for the rest of our stay
